Days Out

Ok nothing in life is FREE but we can have a day out that won't break the bank. Here is my list of places to go on a budget!

Lo Rufete - San Miguel de Salinas

Ths rural property is set 500 metres west of Lake La Pedrera. There is something for all the family whether you fancy a calm pony trek or a adreneline rushing game of paint ball. They also offer quad biking, mountaining biking and lots more.

It's a great day for all to enjoy.

The Fun Fair - Guardamar

This is usually open in the evenings along with the night market. SO if you want a way to bribe the kids to have a look round the market this is the way!!!

This is a seasonal fair which usually starts at around easter time and finishes around September. It is only a small fair which is great for the smaller kids.

The Fair is situated next to the Guardamar park.

La Marina Campsite - La Marina

This is not a cheap day out but you can save some money by taking your own food and drink! It's 6 euros per child & 10 per adult.

It is a really great day out though with all the pools and water slides to choose from the kids don't know where to go first! There is a baby pool which is great for the toddlers.

There is a restaurant where you can sit and have lunch but it is quite pricy lovely food though.......I would recommend the Paella it's great!

Once the kids have had enough of swimming there is an indoor soft play area, which also includes playstations, football tables and a pool table

Happy Days - La Marina

This is a new soft play area which has just opened in La Marina. We haven't personaly been but a friend of ours gave the following review

" I have a 3 year old son and have taken him to Happy Days on two ocassions. It's a really nice soft play area which also serves food and drinks including alcohol.

They also have a bouncy castle, playstation and creche facilities. There is also a patio area with childproof gate.

Red Monkeys - Ciudad Quesada

This is a new soft play area which opened on 2nd May 2008.

It's a soft play area with internet access for adults and play station for the kids. They serve cold food and alcohol and also offer a wide selection of sweets for the kids.

They also offer a creche facility which is a real bonus as there is a real shortage of these in the area!!

Indoor Swimming Pools

There are a few indoor swimming pools in the area which is great in the winter months to keep the little ones used to the water.

They also have daily swimming lessons which is also convienient. The two in the local area are Guardamar & Torrevieja - the one at Torrevieja is an Olympic pool. The pool at Guardamar is located within the Municipal Centre.

The Beaches

This is always a great day out and Spain has some of the best in the Med. With lots of local beaches to choose from such as Guardamar, La Mata and La Zenia to name just a few.

Here the children can play in the sun and run around in the fresh air and if they are feeling brave go for a dip in the sea.

Guardamar sea is quite rough and is patrolled by life guards (in the summer months). Some parts of the sea are not suitable for swimming - these will be shown by a RED flag.

On the whole as long as you are aware of the flag system you should have a enjoyable day at the beach. I would recommend taking your own food and drink as the beach bars and restaurants can work out VERY expensive!!!
